Philosophy of the Berlin Diplomatic Club

Welcome to Berlin

“Willkommen in Berlin” is Germany's Diplomatic Club based in the Federal Foreign Office. With approximately 400 members from well over 100 countries, it enjoys the patronage of the State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office, Walter J. Lindner. The club's activities are directed at diplomats accredited to Germany and their accompanying partners.

Active members, based in Berlin and the surrounding area, enrich the club with their intimate knowledge of the region as well as their ties to local personalities and institutions.  Partners of Foreign Service Officers, with first-hand experience of international relocation and all that it entails, make up half of this group.

All active WIB members work as volunteer hosts, introducing and presenting German culture, in the widest sense of the word, to the club's international members through a wide variety of informative programmes and activities.

„Willkommen in Berlin – Berliner Diplomatenclub beim Auswärtigen Amt e.V.”, to use its official designation, is a forum in which diplomats from around the world encounter Germans in an atmosphere of friendship, broad-mindedness and international understanding.
