Advent concert in the Grunewaldkirche
Willkommen in Berlin's annual Advent concert was held this year in the Grunewaldkirche, and especially recognized the group leaders without whose volunteer work - as President Tone Korssund-Eichinger stressed in her words of welcome - the varied program for the diplomatic members would not be possible.
In the church lit by many candles Pastor Michalek explained the history of his church and of some of its outstanding members.
In addition to pieces by Pietro Baldassare and Bert Matter, the organist of the church David Schirmer and the young trumpet player Anton Winterle played well-known Christmas carols where the guests could sing along.
Diplomatic club members read the gospel according to Luke in Spanish, Indonesian, and Icelandic. It's a WiB tradition to have home-made cakes and cookies.
At the end of the concert, the guests could enjoy typical delicious baked goods along with mulled wine and hot apple cider, and after that they all felt as if they had really gotten into the spirit of the Advent season.
