Nestled right between Hotel Adlon and the Brandenburg Gate, one finds the oldest institution for the Arts in Germany:  Founded in 1696, the “Akademie” proofed to be a magnet for WiB members on February 6th. Dr. Hans-Gerhard Hannesen, the secretary of the executive committee steered his audience through more than 300 years of its history and explained the changing tasks and functions for German intellectual life. Many of the mornings´ visitors were at this outstanding venue with its great views of Brandenburg Gate and Pariser Platz for the first time.
