Tour of the CEBIT Exhibition in Hannover

Cebit, Europe's Business Festival for Innovation and Digitization, took place for the first time this year in early summer. At the invitation of Deutsche Messe AG, Welcome in Berlin organized the yearly day-trip to visit Cebit in Hannover on 13 June 2018. The new Cebit sets high goals and focuses more on the young and creative. They introduce the new logo, a new open-air area and feature new trade fair concepts. The IBM drones show, autonomous driving robot, conferences and workshops offered fascinating insights into the digitization of the economy and society.

IBM presented “Project Cimon” which was developed together with Airbus for the ISS space station. On June 29, the computer Cimon will be deployed  on the mission in space with the German astronaut, Alexander Gerst, and  assist him in his daily tasks. The software solutions for sales, marketing, application development and service companies enable the sales force to establish more efficient contacts with their customers.

The tour led to Scale 11, the platform for start-ups. This year, 350 start-ups presented their young companies to investors. Volkswagen gave a glimpse of their future vision of the driverless vehicle and introduced Sedric, which is a semi-abbreviation of “SElf DRIving Car”.

After a snack break, the interesting guided tour ended at the Japanese pavilion. The club members took the advantage of the rest of the afternoon to explore the fair on their own. A sincere thank you to the Deutsche Messe AG for the spectacular and informative day!
