Visit to the Red Town Hall
On 18 September 2025, WiB was welcomed to the Red Town Hall as part of a club event. We were received in the Louise Schröder Hall by the Chief of Protocol for the State of Berlin, Georg Klußmann, and Thomas Honeck from the International Affairs Department.
During the visit, We gained a deeper understanding of Berlin’s city partnerships and the significance of its district-level involvement. The discussion also touched on key challenges faced by major cities like Berlin, including urban development and city planning, climate protection, housing, migration, sustainable development, and water and wastewater management.
Following the introduction, we were given a guided tour of this impressive brick building by the knowledgeable guide, who shared fascinating details about its history. Its foundation stone was laid as early as 1861. Particularly striking is the 9-metre-high columned hall, with its red ribbed vault and vaulted ceilings supported by columns. A charming highlight of the tour was a remarkably lifelike model of the Red Town Hall made entirely of Lego bricks.
