Sumi-e Japanese Ink Painting

Yuka Andreewitch, Kazuko Gehrig & Anja Gallon

Suiboku-ga (Sumi-e) is the art of Japanese ink painting. This style of painting was first developed among the Zen priests as a way to meditate on life and to find inner balance and calmness. Natural scenes, birds and other animals, and flowers are often selected as subjects. Our teacher, Mrs. Umesaka, is a well-known calligrapher and professional Japanese Suiboku-ga (Sumi-e) painter. Beginners are welcome!
