Berlin Mitte – Fischer Insel
First Steps - New in Berlin group gathered at Julia Geier’s house on 13 November 2018 before they began the tour. After the members introduced themselves, the group leaders explained the planned program of the club year.
The first tour on the program was to explore the neighborhood around the Märkische Museum. The group took a glance at the foyer and had a look at the exhibition of Berliner City Model. The group continued the tour to the Historic Harbor Berlin which is the historic ships museum located on Fischerinsel for more than 20 years. The 100 years old ships are mostly still in operation and partly used for cultural, social and gastronomic purposes.
The final destination of the tour was Mühlendammschleuse (double walled steel sheet “lock”). It was built at the end of the 18th century to regulate the water level of the Spree. There is so much to explore. The members enjoyed the picturesque view along the walk.
