Visit to Hamburg, 13 - 14 May 2014
42 members of the 16 Federal States group spent two unforgettable days in the Free Port and City State of Hamburg. After a guided tour and a reception in the Grand Town Hall, the First Mayor Olaf Scholz invited the ladies from 25 different countries for a lunch at the “Altes Kesselhaus”in the old city center. Mr. Scholz explained the project of the development of the new port. We walked through the new area passing the historical and traditional shipping port towards the new Magellan and Marco Polo Terraces.
A two hour cruise along the Alster waterway canal gave the group a wonderful insight about the greener banks of the canal where the famous and luxurious villas and lofts along the Alster are discreetly hidden from public view. Our dinner was served at a restaurant on the landing quay, where we enjoyed a beautiful view of the harbour.
The second day started with a visit to the famous luxury company Montblanc International. Everyone was impressed by the interesting history of this 108 years old brand and their precious art collection. The next program was a travel to the world of ballet. We had the wonderful opportunity to watch the great ballet master, John Neumeier training his dancers in the 25 years old ballet academy with a boarding facility for ballet dancers from all over the world. A last glimpse of the Alster and the Town Hall ended our diverse program.
Thanks to the Senate of HAMBURG for the generous invitation!
