Set Sails at the Wannsee

On June 12, 2015 group “Unknown Berlin” met to visit the second oldest sailing club of Germany, Verein Seglerhaus am Wannsee (VSaW). The club with probably Europe´s most beautiful club house is located in the large bay of Wannsee. The weather was brilliant and the ladies in high spirit as they gathered on the huge sun terrace overlooking the bay. There Mr. Rolf Bähr - honorary member of the VSaW and the former long standing president of Deutscher Segelverband (DSV) - gave a fascinating and informative historical overview of the sailing club. He is a distinguished sportsman, who has accomplished multiple world and vice world championships and the European champion in the tempest class.
The morning ended with a visit to a reconstructed ship “Royal Luise” The ladies were encouraged to take a closer look at the "Royal Luise”. Until 1914, the original ship belonged to the Prussian rulers and was used by more than five generations for leisure pursuits.
