Summer Days and Vacations

Our first English Conversation Meeting of the new Club Year brought us to “Peru, the land of adventure”.

On 29 September 2017, Claudia Rivadeneira, the spouse of the Peruvian Defense and Naval Attaché, gave us an impressive presentation on Peru’s history with ancient cities and archaeological sites and its spectacular contrasting landscapes from desert to rain forest, from sea level to snow-capped mountains, and from modern skyscrapers to traditional floating island homes of the Uros, Peru’s indigenous people.

It was fun to listen to each other’s narrations of the happy summer days, spending time with family and friends, traveling around the world or just enjoying Berlin and Brandenburg. Europeans cities visited by us were Amsterdam, Helsinki, Lisbon and Cascais, situated on the Atlantic coast, Paris, Stockholm, Tallinn, Vienna, Sluderno in South Tyrol, Florence and Viareggio in Tuscany, and the southern Italian region of Apulia with its endless coastline. St. Petersburg and Moscow were also destinations this summer. German cities such as Bremerhaven, Dresden, Hamburg, Kiel and Oberammergau, and the Islands of Sylt and Rügen were well liked. It didn’t matter where we were, tourists were anywhere and everywhere! Good for the tourism industry!

Our particular thanks go to Claudia who has so kindly received us in the warmth of her home and has prepared delicious Peruvian delicacies to the delight of everyone.
