Visit to the Embassy of Uzbekistan
The group “Embassies and Residences” of Welcome to Berlin was invited by the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Mr. Dilshod Akhatov, to visit the historic embassy building and garden on May 16th, 2024.
Ambassador Akhatov welcomed us and then gave us a tour of the interior of the embassy building. We admired the successful mixture of Prussian elements such as the marble floor with historical mosaic from 1870 in the entrance area and the tasteful Uzbek elements, specially made by Uzbek craftsmen.
In the “German Hall”, the Ambassador's wife, Mrs. Sayora Akhatova, took over the moderation and presented her country as an attractive travel destination with a rich cultural heritage and living traditions. The guests also joined in the dancing.
At the subsequent dinner in the garden, we enjoyed delicious Uzbek cuisine with the national dish “Plov”, a rice dish with lamb, onions, carrots, raisins, vegetables and chickpeas. The buffet was lovingly arranged on the terrace of the Uzbek garden pavilion. Ambassador Akhatov and his team completely won us over with their Uzbek hospitality. We all agreed that, if possible, a trip to this fascinating country in Central Asia should follow soon, to warm-hearted and friendly people with old but living traditions.
