Max Liebermann
In May 2025, the “Unknown Berlin” group visited the Brandenburg Gate Foundation for the second time. During an exclusive guided tour, we gained interesting insights into the life and work of the painter Max Liebermann, whose home and studio once stood on the very same site now occupied by the foundation. Through a virtual reconstruction of his living quarters, we explored Lieberman’s world and learned both inspiring and disturbing details about his life as a painter, who was a highly esteemed artist and later ostracized because of his Jewish faith.
