Presentation by Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, MdB
Despite his busy schedule, FDP Deputy Leader for International Affairs in the German Bundestag, Alexander Graf Lambsdorff accepted the invitation of “History and Politics” group on 15 November 2021 to share his opinions on what the recent Parliamentary elections meant for Germany. In the receiving halls of the Embassy of the Republic of Estonia, Graf Lambsdorff analyzed the changes within the political landscape of Germany. He also spoke about the legacy of Angela Merkel, who ended her career after 16 years as German Federal Chancellor. He gave his opinion on how to respond to the future challenges the country will face concerning climate change and immigration or migration. He also shared his views as the Liberal Party’s spokesman for foreign and security policy, on how to handle future and current conflicts such as the one at the Polish-Belorussian border. After the conversation with journalist Olivia Nikel, the audience took the opportunity to ask questions and exchange views.
Following the official part of the event, Estonian Ambassador Streimann and his wife Marika, generously invited the guests for drinks and snacks. The guests strictly followed the Covid-19 pandemic regulations and enjoyed the first in-person meeting since the outbreak of the pandemic. We were very happy that Alexander Graf Lambsdorff’s father, former Ambassador Hagen Graf Lambsdorff was amongst our guests.
