A Visit to the Italian Embassy
On 22 May 2026, the Embassies and Residences Group and the History and Politics Group collaborated on a joint event at the Italian Embassy in Berlin. The building’s distinctive architecture, marked by its harmonious color scheme and extensive use of travertine, elegantly combines modern design with elements of classical Italian architectural tradition.
Inside, we were especially impressed by the columned gallery and the elegant reception halls. These spaces bring together valuable antiques and contemporary Italian glass design, alongside historical tapestries and finely crafted details in marble and wood, creating a seamless dialogue between past and present.
Our sincere thanks go to Mr. Alfonso Tagliaferri, Head of the Embassy’s Cultural Department, who guided us through the embassy with great dedication and offered insightful perspectives on its architecture, artworks, and cultural significance.
