A Spring Ride with the Biking Group
The first bike tour in 2026 took place in a glorious spring on 25th of April. The group members cycled through one of Germany’s earliest villa colonies in Lichterfelde. Inspired by British models, the colony was developed in 1865 by Hamburg businessman and urban planner Wilhelm von Carstenn.
The ride continued to Teltow, where they enjoyed the stunning cherry blossoms along the Berlin Wall Trail. Thanks to a Japanese fundraising campaign organized after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, around 1,100 cherry trees were planted along the former border between Berlin and Brandenburg, delighting visitors every spring ever since.
Before heading back, the members relaxed at a harbor café enjoying coffee and cake with a beautiful view of the Teltow Canal.
