Tempelhof Airport

In glorious spring weather, we were able to learn many secrets of the historic Tempelhof Airport under expert guidance. We walked through the legendary departure hall to the airfield, where replicas of historic aircraft were waiting in the hangars, including one of the so-called "raisin bombers", which were used to supply the Berlin population during the blockade. We then visited the premises of the American protective forces, as well as the picturesquely decorated bunkers beneath the building.

The impressive finale was a visit to the historic reception hall, which is over 20 meters high, where a lower ceiling was installed in the 1950s and which is now only accessible as part of a guided tour. All participants were deeply impressed by the eventful history of the former "world airport" Tempelhof.
