On 23 January 2023, the Cinema group started the new year with a film shown during the Dansk Film Festival at the Babylon cinema in Berlin-Mitte. The animated film “Flee” is a true and insightful story of Amin, who looks back at his past just before his marriage. The Danish director, Jonas Poher Rasmussen, conducted the interviews himself and provided the film with historic documentary excerpts of the corresponding period. It is a story of Amin’s long journey as a boy in Afghanistan fleeing the country with his family. Ultimately he finds refuge in Denmark, where he starts a new life. The Cinema group members were very moved by the extraordinary story about identity, migration and the finding of the true meaning of home. The film has won several prizes and was nominated in three categories for the Academy Award (Oscar).
