Power Walking in Babelsberg Park

We had a perfect day for our power walking tour on 28 March 2023. It was cold, but the sun was shining in the bright blue sky bringing the good mood for the WiB members who met at the Griebnitzsee train station. From Griebnitzsee, we went to Park Babelsberg where the tour started.

The landscape park is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site that also includes the New Garden and Sanssouci Park, and it belongs to Potsdam’s complex of palaces and parks. It is picturesquely situated on the banks of the Havel and has a spectacular view of the famous Glienicker Brücke where the captured agents were exchanged during the division of Germany. The bridge became known as “the Bridge of Spies“ and was used as the central setting for Steven Spielberg’s Oscar-nominated film with the same title starring Tom Hanks. We had a delightful walk circling the neo-Gothic Babelsberg palace that is currently being restored and ended the tour with a cup of tea at the home of one of our members nearby the palace.
